SOCIAL ENTERPRISE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

This position requires a dynamic and energetic individual with
excellent leadership skills and a passion for innovation. This role
offers the opportunity to become a leader in promoting and developing
the Social Enterprise sector for Galway City.

The Social Enterprise Development Officer will report to the Community
Development & Social Inclusion Coordinator of Galway City Partnership
and will be responsible for identifying, nurturing, maintaining and
developing sustainable social enterprises.

The role is funded as part of the Social Inclusion Community
Activation Programme (SICAP).

BACKGROUND

GALWAY CITY PARTNERSHIP is a local and community development company
working in Galway City. We have been in existence since **Apply on the

– and focus particularly on those who are long term unemployed.

Our role is the development of innovative, flexible programmes to meet
the needs of our specific groups and individuals. We work
strategically with local agencies and groups to ensure that
mainstreaming of successful projects becomes a reality while enabling
the lessons learned to positively influence policy at all levels.

THE ROLE

The Social Enterprise Development Officer role offers a wide range of
exciting opportunities to support and lead local enterprises to grow
and thrive in Galway City.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE ROLE INCLUDE:

* Developing a robust, innovative Social Enterprise Strategy for
Galway City.
* Researching and identifying key sectors for potential new and
innovative social enterprise development.
* Identify opportunities and develop innovative project ideas,
proposals and applications including exploring and developing
opportunities for complementary funding for promotion of social
enterprise development activities and supports for the client groups.
* Developing and implementing an awareness raising plan to increase
understanding of social enterprise within Galway City, focusing on the
value it brings for disadvantaged and marginalised communities and
individuals.
* Supporting new social economy projects within the region during
incubation and startup phases.
* Providing business planning support for emerging and existing
social enterprises as required.
* Co-ordinating the delivery of training and mentoring supports for
local social economy projects.
* Fostering a culture of co-operation and collaboration amongst
social enterprises.
* Co-ordinating regular social enterprise networking events, and the
development of a social enterprise network
* Exploring models for shared service supports for social
enterprises across the region, exploring models of good practice in
other areas such as Plymouth
* Identifying and sourcing new funding streams to create
opportunities for expansion of social enterprise supports within the
region.
* Achieving and reporting on key programme indicators, as required
by specific programme funders.
* Working collaboratively with a broad range of key stakeholders at
local, regional and national level to identify emerging needs for the
sector.
* Maintaining compliance with data protection regulations.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

Galway City Partnership are seeking a dynamic, innovative, energetic
individual who meets the following specifications:

* Relevant experience / knowledge of social enterprise at national
and local levels / third sector development.
* Third level qualification at level 7 or significant prior relevant
experience preferably in a business related/community development
discipline. Recent graduates also welcome to apply.
* Good working knowledge of finances and financial management.
* A good understanding of corporate governance.
* Excellent report writing skills and a proven ability to compile
successful funding applications.
* Can demonstrate an ability to network, liaise and negotiate with
local organisations and agencies.

* Experience of working in the area of Community Development and
Social enterprise and knowledge of

* Social Inclusion Initiatives
* Business Development and Sustainability

* Strong organisation skills and experience to plan and manage
promotional and networking events.
* A full clean driving licence and access to own transport
* Demonstrate an understanding of the overall integrated programme
of work of Galway City Partnership.

* An understanding and knowledge of the local development sector &
other local agencies and service providers, government departments and
local community structures.
* Excellent communication skills
* Experience of working with vulnerable groups, social exclusion and
disadvantaged communities would be an advantage.

TERMS & CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

* Duration of Contract - The contract is a fixed term contract until
*st December *.
Expectations are that funding will be secured allowing for a
continuation of the contract until *.
* Working Hours – * hours per week. Please
note that some evening work may be required outside of these hours.
The Company offers Time Off in Lieu (TOIL) for additional hours worked
outside normal working hours. Galway City Partnership has a Flexible
and hybrid working policy.
* Annual Leave - Annual leave will be *.5
days per annum pro rata
* Travel & Subsistence - Travel and subsistence will be paid at
public sector rates.
* Location of the position - The role is based in Galway City
